If you refuel abroad, you should pay close attention to the prices beforehand.

Because it is not possible to save money at the gas station in every country.

Visiting the

gas station

is really no fun for German drivers.

After all,

petrol and diesel

are particularly expensive in this country compared to other European countries – despite the tank discount.

As a result, motorists were already able to make substantial savings in some holiday countries around Easter.

But what about summer vacation?

This question should probably not only be asked by holidaymakers who go on holiday in their private car, but also by air travelers who are on the road with an expensive rental car.

For some, the

fuel price

could even influence the choice of vacation destination.

Fuel prices in Germany: Refuel cheaper abroad?

Because the differences at the pump are sometimes significant, as shown

by data from the ADAC, TCS and the EU Commission

(as of June 27th).

In Denmark (2.44 euros) and Greece (2.40 euros) motorists have to pay by far the most for a liter of Super.

In Poland, however, only 1.66 euros are due, whoever fills up in Slovenia only pays 1.61 euros.

You can only refuel cheaper in Hungary.

There the liter costs only 1.22 euros.

However ,

since May 27 , the

tank discount has

only applied to locals

.

"Drivers with foreign license plates have to pay around 60 cents more per liter for petrol and diesel," explains the ADAC.

When it comes to diesel, Hungary is also the cheapest at EUR 1.46, followed by Poland (EUR 1.68).

If you want to save at the gas pump on holiday, you should avoid Switzerland: at 2.37 euros, it is the most expensive for the Swiss.

It is only marginally cheaper in Denmark.

Diesel costs €2.27 here.

Fuel prices in Germany: Italy and Spain expensive

In the summer destinations of Italy and Spain, which are popular with Germans, a visit to the petrol station is also not exactly cheap.

In Italy you pay an average of 2.07 euros for a liter of Super, which is 21 cents more than in Germany.

The diesel costs 2.03 euros, as in Germany.

In Spain, petrol (2.13 euros) and diesel (2.10 euros) are slightly more expensive, but there is also a

tank discount of 20 cents

.

However, the database in the individual countries is very different and prices are sometimes reported with a large delay.

The prices are therefore only to be understood as an order of magnitude, emphasizes the

ADAC

.

In addition, as in Germany, there are sometimes strong regional differences.

If you want to take petrol and diesel home with you from abroad, you should also know the relevant regulations.
