The Federal Network Agency is receiving more and more complaints about fake calls from alleged police authorities.

In June, the Federal Network Agency recorded more than 7,600 calls, while the reports in February were still in the single digits, a spokeswoman for the editorial network Germany (RND) said.

Since the beginning of the year, more and more people have been contacting the agency.

In January, not a single report was received by the Federal Network Agency.

In February there were four, in March there was the first major increase to 1768 complaints.

The reports have increased sharply since April: 5,180 complaints were received in the month, then 7,519 in May.

The spokeswoman explained that the complaints were directed against calls in which the person called received an automatic announcement that allegedly came from Interpol, Europol, the BKA or other national and international police authorities.
