Pay attention and update your friends:
If you recently received an offer to upgrade your WhatsApp app to the "Hey WhatsApp" or "Whatsapp Plus" version - do not be tempted.
The "upgrade" is actually malware (malware) that can extract sensitive information from your phone.
This is what Will Catcart, CEO of WhatsApp, posted on his Twitter account: "Recently our security team discovered hidden malware inside apps - offered outside the Google Play Store - from a developer named" HeyMods "which included" Hey WhatsApp "and others.
We shared what we found with Google and worked with them to fight the malicious apps.
" And other privacy settings.
Reminder to @WhatsApp users that downloading a fake or modified version of WhatsApp is never a good idea.
These apps sound harmless but they may work around WhatsApp privacy and security guarantees.

What is the purpose of the applications?
"This is a scam aimed at stealing personal information stored on users' phones," Catcart said, adding: "We will of course continue our efforts to identify and block such apps in the future."
The company also intends to take legal action against the developers.
