The Dutch manufacturer Squad Mobility starts selling its solar car.

The vehicle is not only cheap to buy, but also offers many advantages.

Breda - Car manufacturers around the world are working to advance the alternatives to combustion engines.

In this context, German car manufacturers such as Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz are expanding their electromobility sectors one after the other.

The company Squad Mobility, on the other hand, offers another option: the Dutch are going onto the market with a solar car.

Combination of scooter and small car: solar car costs only 6,000 euros

The manufacturer announced the sale of a 45 km/h fast solar car in November 2019 - now the time has come.

You don't even need a car driver's license for the vehicle - a moped driver's license, which you can get from the age of 15, is sufficient.

The mini electric car has room for two people, it is inexpensive and offers a lot of other advantages.

Squad Mobility's solar car aims to combine the advantages of a practical scooter and a small car.

In contrast to the models of the electric car pioneer Tesla, the vehicle is very small and compact.

The solar car is just two meters long, 1.20 wide and 1.60 meters high - making it easy to find a parking space in the city.

The small electric car has an aluminum roll cage and rear impact protection for the safety of the occupants, as reported

The base model "Regular" is available for 6,250 euros excluding taxes and can be pre-ordered for a fee of 50 euros.

However, the doors of the vehicle have no windows, but are removable.

One price category higher, the "Pioneer Edition", the doors are equipped with windows.

The price is 7,050 euros with an order fee of 500 euros.

The "Signature Edition" also offers the window advantage and a second battery pack - the cost is 9,300 euros (5,000 euros order fee).

Squad Mobility is also planning a larger vehicle with four seats and a maximum speed of 70 km/h for the future.

However, a driver's license will be a prerequisite for this model.

The e-car is additionally charged by solar cells on the roof

A big advantage of the solar car is the largely elimination of travel costs.

The vehicle is powered by two lithium-ion batteries that are interchangeable and can be charged at any house socket.

This means that there are no nasty surprises at charging stations for e-car drivers.

According to Squad Mobility, the battery charge is sufficient for a range of 50 kilometers and can be doubled with an additional battery.

In addition to charging at the socket, the car also feeds energy via the solar cells on the roof.

This gives a further 20 kilometers of range.

On the Internet, some users are enthusiastic about the new electric car and its advantages.

"That's cool," wrote one user on Facebook.

"Where do you have to sign?" asks another, impressed.

However, others are more skeptical.

“What do I do in winter?” One user expresses his concerns.

Another criticizes that no driver's license is required for the solar car.

Many people don't find the vehicle's appearance appealing either.
