While the two historic fires of Landiras and La Teste-de-Buch are still active, they are now under control and residents are starting to return home.
However, France is not yet finished with the forest fire season and other fires are in progress.

The situation is improving in Gironde.
Since this Thursday, the fires have not progressed either in Landiras or in La Teste-de-Buch.
However, they are still active, and more than 1,000 firefighters remain mobilized to deal with outbreaks and possible recoveries, reports Sud Ouest.
Especially since the situation could become difficult again since the temperatures are rising and wind is expected in the coming days.

By then, and since Thursday, some of the 37,000 evacuees have been able to return to their homes.
Returns are due to continue this Saturday.
In all, the two fires in the department destroyed nearly 21,000 ha.
The prefecture announced that it would bring together, on Monday, "elected officials, economic actors and state services to prepare for the end of the economic crisis and support for the impacted sectors".
Resumption of fire in the Arrée mountains
Four homes have been reactivated in the Monts d'Arrée (Finistère) due to unfavorable weather conditions, in particular the wind, the Finistère prefecture said on Friday.
150 firefighters and 40 vehicles are mobilized.
Their presence "in the context of the fire brought under control on Wednesday July 20, allows immediate intervention on the various outbreaks identified", adds the press release.

According to Ouest France, a water bomber is expected this Saturday morning.
Thursday, while the fire had not yet started, the prefecture reported 1,725 ha of vegetation "composed of moors, fir forests and hardwoods" burned.
Unfixed fire in the Hérault
A fire broke out this Friday afternoon, in the Hérault, placed on heat wave alert.
Despite the rapid arrival of four water bomber planes and 300 firefighters, it spread and swung into neighboring Aude.
It was not fixed this Friday evening, but the firefighters wanted to be reassuring all the same, indicating that "the situation was evolving favorably".
According to France 3, it was a car fire that spread to the vegetation.
150 ha have already gone up in smoke.
