Terrible discovery for the police.
The body of an octogenarian was found in a freezer at her home in Salsigne, about twenty kilometers north of Carcassonne (Aude), AFP learned from the prosecution on Sunday.
"A lady was discovered in a freezer, an investigation to find the causes of death has been opened," said the Carcassonne prosecutor's office, which specifies that an autopsy would take place in the coming days.
The time of the discovery of the body is not yet precise, AFP reporting that it took place this Friday evening, while La Dépêche du Midi evokes this Saturday morning.
The husband gave the alert
The victim is a woman born in 1941. Her death would be very recent since, according to La Dépêche du Midi, she was seen on Friday morning at the itinerant fishmonger who stops in the village.
France Bleu reports for its part that it is the husband of the octogenarian who gave the alert, worried not to see her return to their home.
He would have been heard as a witness but no police custody has been pronounced for the time being, reports the local radio.
For the time being, the circumstances of the discovery of the body have not been communicated.
The investigation was entrusted to the research brigade of the Carcassonne gendarmerie.
