The first experiment in the world of education to drive electric scooters starts on 26 July from Rome and Milan (ANSA)

Soon the images of scooters thrown on the sidewalks like garbage, parked incorrectly on pedestrian crossings and cycle paths or worse, thrown from stairways and bridges, could become just a memory.

From 26 July, those who park their shared electric scooters incorrectly risk incurring penalties and will be incentivized to take free driving courses.

It is the mini-revolution in the scooter sector launched by the Consumerismo No profit consumer association and the sharing company Dott, with the first experiment in the world that in Rome and Milan (but soon also in the other cities served by Dott) declares war to the phenomenon of the wild parking of these new means of transport, with the aim of stemming the degradation of our urban centers.

Dott has a fleet of over 10 thousand scooters throughout Italy.

Thanks to the "Consumerismo Monitor" project, from July 26, users of the Dott sharing scooter service who in Rome and Milan will park outside the permitted areas or in an incorrect way in violation of the Highway Code will receive an "alert" directly on their smartphone, through the operator's app.

In case of repetition of the incorrect behavior, the second time they will suffer a penalty from the operator, but combined with a guide to parking and compliance with the rules.

In the event of a third violation, they will be incentivized to attend a compulsory and free driving course organized in the autumn of 2022. Penalty: suspension of the customer's account with consequent inability to use the sharing services.

Consumerism and Dott then carried out a survey to define the identikit of those who habitually use electric scooters in Rome: it emerges that 60% of users do it to save time and avoid traffic, 38% to go to school or work .

66% have a university degree, while 29% have a diploma.

Employees are those who make greater use of the electric scooter (57% of the sample), while 20% is represented by the student category.

40% of regular users declare that they have reduced the use of private cars since they have been circulating on a scooter, but there are also critical aspects: one in three users (32% of the interviewees) believe it is necessary to prevent the wild parking of scooters shared;

for 26% it is necessary to prevent people from driving in a dangerous way while 29% believe that the sharing service should be extended to the parts of the city currently not served.

"Promoting a correct use of shared mobility and extending the service to the outskirts of cities is our main objective.

In this direction we have found in Dott great availability, and it is for this reason that we are proud to be the first in Europe to share a common project between a large shared mobility company and an association for the protection of collective interests ", says the president of Consumerismo, Luigi Gabriele.
