Another step forward for the motorsport strategy.
Maserati MC20, conceived from the earliest stages of development to bring the Trident back to the track in covered-wheel competitions, will in fact be the protagonist in the GT2 European Series Championship, debuting in 2023. The MC20 GT2 made available by Maserati to customers and teams, derives from the road version, from which it inherits contents such as the Nettuno engine with new MTC (Maserati Twin Combustion) technology, the suspension geometry with a double wishbone solution equipped with a semi-virtual steering axle and the carbon monocoque.
Maserati's return to the track in GT competitions represents the ideal link between the new era of the brand and the victories obtained by the multi-winning MC12 in the FIA GT championships from 2004 to 2010. Just to underline the link between MC12 and MC20, on the occasion of the 24 hours of Spa, where the MC12 won three times (2005, 2006, 2008), Maserati inaugurates the new era of Maserati Corse with an experience dedicated to the glorious stages of its sporting history.
"We are driven by our passion - said Davide Grasso, Maserati CEO - both on the road and on the track. We have a long history of world-class excellence in motor racing and we are extremely proud to compete with the MC20. Racing has always been there. 'natural habitat of Maserati and now, both in the Fanatec GT2 Championship and in the Formula E Championship, our brand restarts from its roots to build its future ".
"With the MC20 GT2 - commented Jean-Marc Finot, Senior VP, Stellantis Motorsport - Maserati Corse offers the perfect link between the Formula E program and our road cars. This new step is a further confirmation of our heritage. Maserati and the credibility of the brand in motorsport.
