Gérald Darmanin does not want to speak of “rodeos” but of “criminal phenomenon”.
The Minister of the Interior, on the move this Monday in Marseille, denounced acts “which come to kill, very seriously injure women or children”.
A 10-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy were seriously injured when they were knocked down by a motocross bike in Pontoise (Val-d'Oise), Friday evening, while they were playing on the esplanade in their neighborhood.
“I asked for this month of August an intensification of controls and I wish that there are 10,000 control operations to fight against these criminal acts of people who take the road for their route and who come to murder children” , announced Gérald Darmanin, before taking stock of the government's fight against rodeos.
“There have been more than 8,000 operations over the past two months, it has given rise to 1,200 arrests, this is unheard of, 700 seizures and 20,000 fines”.
