A drama in Haute-Corse.
A man was discovered shot dead Wednesday evening on a track in the town of Venzolasca, about thirty kilometers from Bastia, said the city prosecutor.
The emergency services discovered this man in cardiorespiratory arrest at 9:50 p.m., said Arnaud Viornery, the public prosecutor of Bastia who went to the site.
The victim had several gunshot wounds, reports the daily Corse-Matin.
“The person was visibly dead when the emergency services were called”, he added without further details on the identity or the possible criminal past of this man.
The victim would be a contractor specializing in the earthworks of the village, aged about forty, according to a source familiar with the matter.

At the same time, at 10:40 p.m., a vehicle was found burned in Canale di Verde, 40 km south of Venzolasca, without it being known for the time being whether there is a link between the two events, also indicated the magistrate.
An investigation was opened for intentional homicide by the prosecution, which entrusted it to the research section of the Corsican gendarmerie and the Bastia research brigade.
