Although unknown in the West, the Largus model launched in 2012 by AvtoVAZ in the presence of President Vladimir Putin, is one of the most appreciated in Russia, especially for its robustness and practicality being derived - as part of the now no longer existing agreement between the number one manufacturer in that country and the Renault Group - from the first generation Dacia Logan LCV.
It is known, in fact, that due to the invasion in Ukraine the French company had immediately stopped its industrial activities in Russia and then separated definitively from AvtoVAZ in May.
However, the programs had been launched and among these there was evidently the 100% electric variant of the Largus, which in the intentions of the current management of the company should revitalize the Russian automotive industry, also looking at a 'green' future.
In recent months, AvtoVAZ has carried out its restructuring, announcing in particular the imminent reorganization of its production between the Togliatti plant, which until last winter produced the Dacia of Renault origin, while its production center in Izhevsk was until now dedicated to the Lada. Vesta.
Production of the Vesta should resume in Togliatti in the spring of 2023.
And in the new plans there is now (without information on features and launch dates) also the fully electric e-Largus variant.
Based like the petrol version on the platform of the first generation Dacia Logan MCV, it features - as the only widespread technical image reveals - in an electric powertrain installed under the front hood while the battery will be distributed between the central tunnel and the floor under the seats. rear.
The Lada e-Largus will be assembled in Izhevsk (without obviously canceling the Largus ICE) but, the French magazine L'Argus points out that the republic of Udmurtia, the Russian province in which this AvtoVAZ production plant is located, has - as has declared the leader Aleksandr Brechalov himself - only about ten charging stations.
Without Renault, we read in L'Argus, Lada starts from scratch and no one is able to confirm what was announced at the beginning of 2021 by the Renault Group which had scheduled the renewal of the Lada range with a new Niva (model launched 45 years ago) in 2024 and a 5-door version in 2025.
