Very late this Tuesday evening, the family of Anne-Cécile Hondeville, a hiker who has been missing for more than nine months, confirmed on Facebook that her body had finally been found on Monday, as France Bleu reports.

The 50-year-old disappeared on October 24, 2021, in the Balaïtous sector, located in the Hautes-Pyrénées, not far from the Spanish border.

Several calls for witnesses had been launched since, in particular by his ex-wife, who had asked once again in June, walkers in this area, to be attentive.

And, according to the latter who spoke on Facebook, it was precisely a hiker who found one of Anne-Cécile Hondeville's shoes during the weekend.

The French and Spanish gendarmes were thus able to relaunch the search more precisely in this area “and discovered it”.

At the time of her disappearance, the police had found the hiker's sleeping bag and some of her belongings in a shelter.

But the research had to be interrupted because of the weather and the first snowfall, recalls Sud Ouest.

They had resumed in the spring.

"She probably had a bad fall between the scissors breach and the Michaud shelter while walking along, on the Spanish side, the ridge line leading to Balaïtous", reported the ex-wife of the missing hiker, still on the social network. .

“We will finally be able to put an end to our questions, our anxieties and say goodbye to him”, she concluded.

Anne-Cécile Hondeville leaves behind two children aged 6 and 11, reports France Bleu.
