A heavy toll.
Six people were killed and seven injured in the accident on Saturday of a truck which drove into a group of people dining outside near Rotterdam on Saturday, according to a new report released this Sunday by the Dutch police.
"We now have six people killed and seven injured, one seriously, after yesterday's accident," police spokeswoman Mirjam Boers told AFP.
A first assessment of the accident which occurred on Saturday evening reported at least two dead and several injured.
The driver taken into custody
The accident happened in the early evening when the Spanish-registered truck left the road in Zuidzijdsedijk, about 30 km south of Rotterdam.
"The truck drove into a group of people attending a neighborhood barbecue," Rotterdam police said on their Twitter account.
Photographs taken after the crash identified the truck as belonging to Spain-based company El Mosca.
The truck driver, who was not injured, was arrested and taken into custody, NOS radio said.
