Insect residue on the paintwork and windshield can be dangerous.

With the right behavior, however, they have hardly any consequences.

Summer is probably the most beautiful season for many people.

The high temperatures lure you into the outdoor pool or the bathing lake.

But it is also the time of the insects and they are not only annoying when barbecuing or sitting comfortably together, but also when driving a car.

Because: The greasy insect remains settled on the windshield and paint.

If they dry up, they are difficult to remove.

That's a problem because the remains of insects on the pane impair visibility.

Smudged windows can also cause the sun to suddenly blind you.

These impairments often occur in tricky situations where clear vision is important.

Many motorists therefore try to use the windscreen wipers to ensure a clear view again.

But that's not a good idea, especially before corners or in tricky situations.

Because even if there is a summer agent with protein solvents in the washer fluid reservoir - sometimes it takes several wiping movements before the insect dirt clears the view.

As long as the view remains poor, if you see anything at all.

If you still have the antifreeze from the winter in the wiper water, you have to expect even more daubing.

Therefore, it makes more sense to pull over to the right at the next gas station and remove insect remains from windows and headlight covers.

Remove insect remains: Do not clean the car with household products

If you have driven a long distance by car, it is advisable to go to a car wash or to grab the cleaning bucket yourself.

Because dried insect remains are a mixture of protein, wing remains and chitin shells.

After just a few days - and even more so after weeks - this mixture can burn into the paintwork.

It is best to clean the car in the shade - the same applies if you want to polish the paintwork.

However, household products such as washing-up liquid or cup brushes are taboo, as they can be harmful to some car parts.

Better to use water, soft sponges and microfiber towels.

A remnant of a velor carpet can also be suitable.

In specialist shops there are also special insect sponges and insect removers.
