NASA announced that the historic launch will not take place today • The official reason for the postponement is a fuel leak in one of the engines • The next possible date for the launch is the beginning of September

The NASA agency announced today (Monday) that it will be forced to postpone the historic launch intended to return humanity to the moon. The update was published shortly before the planned launch of the Orion rocket.

The launch of #Artemis I is no longer happening today as teams work through an issue with an engine bleed.

Teams will continue to gather data, and we will keep you posted on the timing of the next launch attempt.

A few minutes after the planned launch window of the "Artemis 1" project opened - a postponement was announced.

Dummies that are supposed to resemble humans were attached to the special rocket to test the feasibility of returning to the moon.

The official reason for the postponement is a fuel leak in one of the engines, and the fear that they won't have enough time to fix the problem during the day.

This time the six-week task is progressing in more measured steps.

The rocket is expected to orbit the moon in order to prepare the ground for a similar but populated launch, with astronauts landing as early as 2024 - if all goes as planned.

On top of the rocket there are three mannequins, as mentioned, so that it will be possible to measure the effect of vibrations, acceleration and radiation that humans will experience in space.

All these indicators will be transmitted to the control center through 1,000 different sensors.

Almost made history.

The Israeli Space Agency will also take an indirect part in the launch.

The agency's statement said: "The Artemis 1 mission, on which the dolls Zohar and Helga with radiation protection suits developed by the Israeli company StemRad, will participate in the launch.

A number of problems such as a nitrogen leak and a lightning strike, and even a crack that was discovered, threatened the implementation of the project, but all of these were corrected.

The next possible launch date is September 2, they said.
