Dozens of people came this evening to Menorah Mivathim Hall to watch the famous opera singer's performance, and were surprised to find out that it was canceled without receiving an update about it.

Neither the media nor the networks received a notice of cancellation.

"It's a disappointment and heartbreak."

The production: "Everyone who purchased tickets received a cancellation email and a full credit"

Dozens of people who arrived this evening (Sunday) at the Menorah Mittehim Hall in Tel Aviv, in order to watch a performance that was supposed to take place at the place of the Spanish opera singer and conductor Placido Domingo, were amazed to find out that the performance was canceled.

Some of them said Woah!

Culture because they did not receive any notice of the cancellation.

Domingo was supposed to return to Israel for a concert with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra conducted by Eugene Cohen.

Dr. Alina Bernstein and her husband Noah Briger, a soloist in the Israeli Opera, are among the dozens who came to the hall this evening and were surprised to find the gates closed. "My husband and I purchased tickets through 'Lan', we did not receive any notification about the cancellation of the performance," Bernstein told Walla! Culture. We left in the evening, parked, arrived at Menorah Mivathim, and when we got closer it looked very suspicious.

We didn't see any gate open.

It turned out that there was no show.

It's heartbreaking.

There were about thirty other people who came there, and they said there were other people before, and they said they didn't receive a cancellation notice either.

I didn't see that I got my money back either.

How can it be that they were not informed in any way in a message or in the media?

Very disappointing."

To the best of our knowledge, the media did not receive any notification about the postponement or cancellation of the performance. In addition, nothing was written about it on the Facebook page of the production company, Talent Music Event - as well as on the site where the tickets are sold and not on the company's Facebook page .

In response to the audience's complaints that reached us, the production company, Talent Music, said in response: "Everyone who purchased tickets through 'Lan' received a cancellation email and a full credit."

The production chose not to answer the questions why there was no announcement to the media about the postponement or cancellation of the show and whether the cancellation of the show is related to the allegations against Domingo that he sexually assaulted women.

The 81-year-old Domingo is a Grammy winner, and is considered one of the greatest opera singers of all time.

He has performed thousands of times on stages around the world in several languages, participated in musical films and was a member of the Three Tenors with Luciano Pavarotti and Jose Carreras.

In addition, he served as the general director of the Washington Opera and was one of the founders of the Los Angeles Opera, where he also served as an artistic consultant and later as general director.

In August 2019, allegations were first published in the AP that Domingo had sexually harassed several women who had worked with him for more than 30 years.

Later, additional testimonies were published that accumulated for 20 women.

Following the publications, Domenico resigned as CEO of the Los Angeles Opera. The allegations did not lead to legal proceedings, but an independent six-month investigation commissioned by the Los Angeles Opera "found the allegations credible," stating that "his behavior was inappropriate," that he left some of the women with "significant trauma." The American Guild of Musicians also conducted an independent investigation that has not been made public, but according to AP investigators found 27 women and men who claimed they were harassed by Domingo or witnessed his inappropriate behavior.

Only half a year after the allegations were published, in February 2020, Domingo apologized to everyone who was offended by him - but denied the allegations and took no real responsibility.

"I have never acted aggressively towards anyone, and I have never done anything to stop or harm anyone's career in any way."

The affair did not fall from the headlines, and yesterday (Friday) it was published in the Los Angeles Times that Domingo was a VIP client of a "geisha" service that operated under the guise of a yoga school.
