Without the iPhone 14 series, and just before the announcement event:
for the first time ever, the market share of iPhone (iOS) in the US overtook Google's Android and reached more than 50% in the last quarter - according to a new report by the research company Counterpoint ).
In measuring the total iPhone market share in the US, Counterpoint looks not only at sales, but at the total number of active smartphone users (Active installed base). Another separate report that Apple also dominates premium device sales worldwide, accounting for 78 percent of the segment of smartphones at a price north of 1,000 dollars.
"Operating systems are like religions - there are never any major changes. But over the last four years the flow has been from Android to iOS consistently," said Counterpoint Research Director Jeff Fieldhack.
"This is a major milestone that can be repeated in other wealthy countries around the world."

It also states that "everyone who buys an iPhone whether it's second-hand, third-hand or fourth-hand will probably put some money into Apple buying apps - paying for iCloud, using Apple Music or Apple Pay transactions. And it's a model like no other, really , failed to restore".
In total, about 150 devices using Google's Android operating system, led by Samsung and Lenovo, took the rest of the market share.
In fact, this is a historic record for Apple - for the first time since it launched the iPhone in 2007.
