INTERVIEW - Permanent doctor and president of the Office of Medical Findings of Lourdes, Dr Alessandro de Franciscis explains to us how unexplained healings occurring in pilgrims are verified.

The Office of Medical Findings was created in 1883, at the request of the rector of Lourdes, to subject cases of potentially unexplained cures to rigorous and collegial medical verification.

The Office of Medical Findings and the Cmil (International Medical Committee of Lourdes), which brings together university professors and researchers in different fields of medicine, apply a scientific method.

Our role as doctors is to say if the person is cured and if this healing is unexplained.
