A French teacher at Lycée Malherbe in Caen was stabbed on Tuesday morning by a student, reports the local press.
According to information from France Bleu Normandie, the attack took place within the school, in the classroom, around 11 a.m.
The victim, aged about 40, was reportedly shot in the neck.
A version of the facts which has not been confirmed by an official source at this time.
“The alleged perpetrator has been arrested and the days of the teacher are not in danger”, simply indicated the public prosecutor of Caen to Ouest-France.
No student was otherwise injured.
“Absolutely unspeakable act”
A dozen firefighters and two ambulances were mobilized, while the police carried out several inspections within the establishment.
A psychological unit will be set up and classes should be able to resume - at least for some of the students - this Tuesday afternoon.

In a letter sent at midday to the parents of pupils, the management of the establishment specifies that "the whole of the educational community condemns this absolutely unspeakable act and gives its full support to the teacher at and all the witnesses of this aggression.
