Ferrari Purosangue (manufacturer)

The press release for the Ferrari purosangue opens like this: "After years of anticipation from the global automotive community, Ferrari unveils the purosangue..." Now, come on, they've always known and 99% of the time rightly so.

But in this case the expectation in the global automotive community was to see if Ferrari would break through and despite its statements time and time again - produce a four-door crossover.

Among the hard core of Ferrari owners and enthusiasts the Purosangue will never be a "real" Ferrari, but it's going to make them loads of money.

Just like it was with Porsche, Bentley, Aston Martin and Lamborghini.

The name purosangue was borrowed from a noble horse breed that originated in Italy.

But in relation to the definition of the car itself, Ferrari moves away from any association of it as a "crossover" or "SUV" and treats it as something that is unlike any other vehicle, but it does resemble an elevated family car, like basically any crossover.

And perhaps it can be said to some extent that this nickname "unlike any other vehicle" really describes it.

The purosangue is the first time Ferrari itself has produced a 4-door car.

The previous and only time was in 1980 with a concept car that did not mature into a model.

It comes with normal doors for the front seats and doors that open in the opposite direction to the conventional "suicide doors" for the rear seats.

The dynamic exterior design somewhat obscures this, but it is also a large vehicle, 497 cm from end to end, 203 cm wide, 159 cm high and a 302 cm wheelbase.

For all that size, the boot is slim at 473 litres.

But the interesting figure in the line of dimensions was actually the dry weight - 2,033 kg (probably with the carbon fiber package and not of a regular model). This is a very good figure for a crossover (sorry, that's what it is) and another one with a piece of engine in front.

With the compelling heritage it comes from, the purosangue uses every trick in the book to ensure dynamic potential.

It starts with the position of the engine that does not sit above the front wheels like in the vast majority of the car but is pushed right back into the passenger compartment.

To help distribute weight as optimally as possible, in his case it is 49% forward and 51% backward.

The engine itself with 715 hp is the one that is also installed in the 812 on its derivatives, the same 6.5 liters in atmospheric V12 configuration, with 65 degrees between the cylinders, the same compression ratio, only a slightly lower red line, instead of 8,900 it "makes do" with 8,250 RPM

The gearbox is a double clutch with 8 transmission ratios.

And performance, of course it's impossible without the figures of 3.3 seconds to 100, 10.6 seconds to 200 km/h and a maximum speed of "more than 310 km/h".

Electric or hybrid?

To allow all this power to propel and move it well, Ferrari also invested in the casing of the engine, that is, in the chassis, shock absorbers and brakes assemblies.

Its platform is completely new, and is not shared with any other model of the manufacturer, the center of gravity is lowered through the use of a carbon fiber roof (unless you prefer to destroy everything and take it with a glass roof).

Carbon fiber parts are also embedded elsewhere in the body.

The steering here also uses the rear wheels to add stability in turns, the brakes are ceramic, the shock absorbers here are the last word that comes from the racetracks.

When each shock absorber has an electric motor that reacts in fractions of a second and provides pressure in the shock absorber in order to prevent or at least reduce roll angles.

In addition to these, there is also the electronic envelope, including Ferrari's drift mode, which makes it possible to go into power slides with one eye open on the stability control.

Lots of screens, but also a large and prominent RPM indicator in the middle (photo: manufacturer's website)

Despite its dimensions, the four doors and the fact that it is probably the most practical vehicle that Ferrari has produced, the purosangue has only four seats, in which each passenger gets a sports seat with side supports, electric directions, massage and separate climate control for each.

And also pay attention - for the first time in a Ferrari, also coupling to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

In the passenger cabin, he does the "green repair" on the engine, when according to the company, 85% of the materials in the passenger cabin are made in a recycling process.

From the fabric in the ceiling to the carpets, even the Alcantara trims are made of 68% recycled polyester.

High family?

Low crossover?

Ferrari will also give you two more things that you won't get in its other cars - a care and maintenance package for 7 years and also a care interval of 20,000 km or a year, again, with the understanding that this is going to be a car for a new type of customer in the company.

New customers or not , that's for sure - they must be very rich. Ferrari does not specify the official price of the car. The estimates are that it will cost between 350 and 390 thousand euros. That is, twice the price of a Lamborghini Urus or a Bentley Bentayga. In a quick translation to shekels, we are looking at a car that easily skips 3 1 million shekels and with its light fittings, you can also reach 4 million. Production starts next year, so you have time to save.
