The toll is very heavy: at least seven people died because of the torrential rains which fell last night in Italy, flooding the streets and homes, announced this Friday morning the civil protection.
“According to the local prefecture, we have a provisional toll of seven dead.
The seventh body has just been found,” the spokesperson for Fabrizio Curcio, head of Italian civil protection, told AFP, confirming information from the Italian media.
Three other people are also missing, including a six-year-old child who was with his mother in the car.
The latter was saved by the firefighters but the force of the current of the water took away her child, according to the agency AGI.
The floods hit several towns in this region of the east of the country, on the edge of the Adriatic, in particular in the province of Ancona.
