2022-09-17T14:25:24.204Z

Several elected officials had asked for the ban on this commemoration scheduled for Sunday. The police officer responsible for the fatal shooting has been taken into custody

The elected officials who opposed it will not have won their case.

The white march in tribute to Zied, driver killed by police fire during a refusal to comply in Nice on September 7, will take place this Sunday, indicates the prefecture of the Alpes-Maritimes to Parisian, confirming information from BFM Nice Côte d'Azur.

To be precise, the authorities decide not to prohibit the event, which was declared on time.

The white march will leave at 11 a.m. from 93, boulevard de la Madeleine to reach the Palace of Justice, indicates Nice-Matin.

The prefecture tells us that a “security device” will obviously be put in place, without being able to specify the number of law enforcement officers mobilized.

Christelle D'Intorni, MP Les Républicains des Alpes-Maritimes, is one of the elected officials who opposed this commemoration.

On Twitter, she had indicated this Saturday morning that she had been threatened with death following this position.

For asking for the cancellation of a white march for Zied, who died following his refusal to comply with #Nice06, I received hate messages and death threats.

You will never prevent me from saying what I think!

I ask the @prefet06 to ban this demonstration!

The author of the fatal shooting - a 23-year-old assistant police officer - was indicted for "willful violence causing death without intention of giving it" at the end of his police custody in the premises of the General Inspectorate of the national police (IGPN).

This young official, assigned to the road safety brigade, was placed under judicial supervision with a ban on carrying a weapon.

“For me, the policeman did not have the right to shoot.

The images are shocking.

It's as if he had executed my son at point-blank range,” Zied's mother testified in Le Parisien on September 10.
