These two men, born in 1979 and 1982, died “a priori of natural death” and did not commit suicide, indicated the parquet floor of Saint-Omer.

The two detainees had "nothing to do" with each other and did not mix, one of the two being in the building of the "accompanying structure towards the exit", he said. the same source added, emphasizing the “quite exceptional” nature of these two almost simultaneous deaths.
Two investigations were opened to determine their causes.
Autopsies are due to take place next week.

According to UFAP-UNSA union representative Yannick Lefebvre, the first detainee arrived at the penitentiary center around 5 p.m. Friday and was then seen by a doctor.
He then "felt unwell in the night" and his fellow prisoner alerted the guards, who performed first aid without succeeding in saving him.

The second detainee was discovered dead in his bed in the support structure towards the exit “this morning when taking service”, according to Yannick Lefebvre.
"It's difficult for colleagues, it's rare to have two deaths in one night," he said.
