Woody Allen, one of the greatest directors in the world, announced: I am retiring from cinema

Allen, who is currently preparing to shoot his last and 50th film, said in an interview with the Spanish newspaper "La Vanguardia" that he intends to devote the next few years to writing.

In recent years, Allen has hardly worked in the US due to his daughter's claims of alleged abuse on his part, and one of his latest films was even shelved because of this.

Woody Allen, one of the top directors in the world in recent generations ("My Romance with Annie", "Manhattan", "Purple Cairo Rose", "Blue Jasmine"), announced his retirement from cinema - this was announced today (Sunday).

In an interview with the Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia, Allen said that he intends to use the next few years to write.

These days he is working on his 50th film, which should take place in Paris and be shot in French.

Allen hinted at this in the past, when he was interviewed about three months ago by Alec Baldwin on Instagram, where he said that his next film may indeed be his last.

"The thrill is a little bit lost," Allen said.

"Once upon a time when I was making movies, the movie would go to theaters all over the country. Today, a movie gets several weeks in a movie theater, maybe six or four weeks, and then it goes directly to the streaming networks. It's not fun for me anymore."

In recent years, Allen has hardly worked in the United States, following the claims of his adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, according to which he allegedly abused her when she was a seven-year-old girl - claims he flatly denies.

One of his last films was even shelved because of this.

About a year and a half ago, Allen broke his long-standing televised silence in an interview with CBS, in which he responded to the accusations: "It's so ridiculous, we didn't even have to open an investigation."

He also said: "Why would a 57-year-old, who has never been accused of anything, suddenly attack a seven-year-old woman?"

And why would I do it during a custody battle with her mother?" Alan added: "I believe Dylan.

She was a good girl, and I believe her that she believes it.

She doesn't make it up, she doesn't lie, she believes it." In his words, Allen referred to his claim that Mia Farrow brainwashed Dylan as part of her revenge on him after their breakup.
