According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI)
, the number of known
infections in Germany has increased by
60,237 cases
to over 32.74 million.
On Tuesday last week, the value was still 54,930.
The
seven-day incidence
rises to
259.0
from 229.9 last Tuesday.
The RKI reports
146 more deaths
related to the corona virus - 56 more than a week ago.
The known total is 149,079.
In general, however, this information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections.
Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI.
This is mainly due to the fact that by far not all infected people have a PCR test done.
Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics.
In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to the distortion of individual daily values.
Comparisons of the data are only possible to a limited extent due to the test behavior, late registrations and transmission problems.
In general, the number of registered new infections and deaths varies significantly from weekday to weekday, since many federal states do not transmit them to the RKI, especially at weekends, and report their cases later in the week.
Plateau observed in the intensive care patients
The RKI had only declared at the end of last week that the long-lasting decline in infections was no longer the case.
This emerged from the Covid 19 report by the Berlin institute, which mainly refers to the previous week.
In addition to the incidence, which is only meaningful to a limited extent, the RKI also looks at a number of other indicators.
According to the data, the downward trend did not continue even in the case of severe Covid 19 diseases.
When it came to the number of intensive care patients affected, there was talk of a plateau.
