Three Tunisians have been arrested for the alleged murder of a Frenchman found dead this weekend in the swimming pool of a house on the Tunisian island of Djerba, a judicial spokesman said on Tuesday.
The three suspects, including "the fiancée" of the victim, are suspected of "intentional homicide with premeditation", said Arafat al-Mabsout, spokesperson for the court of Medenine (south-east), on which depends the Djerba Island.
According to local media, the fiancée, in her twenties, confessed to the murder with the complicity of the two other arrested suspects.
The court spokesman did not reveal the identity of the victim but, according to La Provence, it is Romain Pizzato, a 42-year-old ski coach from Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.
Romain Pizzato was discovered unconscious in the swimming pool of the house he occupied in Ajim.
The young woman with whom he had become engaged at the beginning of the summer would have recognized the facts.
According to the Provençal daily, the French courts have not been seized and the file remains strictly Tunisian for the moment.
