The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the nationwide
seven-day incidence
on Friday morning as
294.7
.
This is evident from numbers that reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 5 a.m.
The day before, the value of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week was 281.4 (previous week: 249.9; previous month: 288.5).
However, this information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections.
Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done.
Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics.
In addition, late registrations and transmission problems can lead to the distortion of individual daily values.
The health authorities in Germany recently reported
50,800 new infections
(previous week: 38,749) and
93 deaths
(previous week: 117) to the RKI within one day.
Here, too, comparisons of the data are only possible to a limited extent due to the test behavior, late registrations and transmission problems.
In general, the number of registered new infections and deaths varies significantly from weekday to weekday, since many federal states do not transmit them to the RKI, especially at weekends, and report their cases later in the week.
The RKI has counted 32,905,086 infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.
The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections go undetected.
Overall, the key figures point to a slight increase in the number of infections in Germany.
The nationwide seven-day incidence, for example, rose by eleven percent last week compared to the week before, according to the RKI report on Covid-19 on Thursday evening.
The increase was strongest in the 50 to 84 age group.
Increase is registered in nursing homes
The report mainly relates to the past week.
The previous issue already showed that the long-lasting decline in several parameters has stopped.
The basis for calculating the incidence are laboratory tests, which are now being carried out less frequently than in previous phases of the pandemic.
However, the RKI also recorded slight increases in additional estimated values for people suffering from Covid-19 and for doctor visits for this reason.
In addition, the number of reported corona outbreaks in medical facilities and nursing homes has increased.
A few days ago, the Association of Accredited Laboratories in Medicine (ALM) spoke of the development of a trend reversal in its evaluation of PCR test numbers.
Test numbers in specialist laboratories have risen again for the first time in months.
According to the data taken into account in the RKI weekly report, there is still no recognizable increase in the number of severe Covid 19 cases in hospitals and intensive care units: there is talk of the values stabilizing on a plateau.
In general, the RKI continues to speak of a high infection pressure in all age groups.
