American rapper Artis Leon Ivy Jr., known by the stage name Coolio, who became famous in the 1990s thanks to hits such as "Gangsta's Paradise", "Fantastic Voyage" and "1, 2, 3, 4 (Sumpin' New)", passed away at the age of 59 - This was announced today (Thursday) by its manager, Jarez Pozzi.
In a conversation with CNN, Posey said that Coolio passed away in Los Angeles, but the circumstances of the death have not yet been clarified.
Coolio, originally from Compton, California, began his career in the 1980s as a member of WC and the Maad Circle, but broke out as a solo artist after leaving on his debut album, It Takes a Thief, released in 1994.
