At Sixt, the future will be: electric cars instead of combustion engines.
By 2030, 70 percent of the rental car fleet in Europe should be electrified.
Electromobility is becoming more and more popular.
This also applies to the large car rental companies, who are constantly expanding their range of electric cars.
Hertz, for example, placed a large order with Tesla and Sixt is also slowly sorting out the combustion engine.
By 2030, between 70 and 90 percent of the fleet in Europe should consist of hybrids or purely electric cars.
Worldwide it should be around 12 to 15 percent by the end of 2023, as the company announced on Tuesday.
At the end of the first half of the year, the value was around 10 percent, as a spokesman for the German Press Agency (dpa) said.
By the end of the year, 20 new electric and plug-in models - from Audi, Opel, Renault, BMW, Peugeot and Tesla - should also be available.
By 2030, the majority of the Sixt fleet should be electrified.

In order to make it as easy as possible for its customers to use electric cars, Sixt will invest "50 million euros in its own charging infrastructure" at the stations over the coming years.
In addition, with the help of partners, they should have access to around 300,000 charging stations across Europe via the new Sixt Charge function in the app.

“We at Sixt believe in innovation, in progress, in freedom.
This also applies to the most burning issue of our time, climate change.
Since every rental of an e-car is a paid test drive, Sixt is becoming a catalyst for e-mobility,” explains Alexander Sixt, who runs the company together with his brother Konstantin.

This is also shown by a study that Sixt conducted together with the market research company TNS: Around 70 percent of the customers surveyed stated that using a rental car helps to reduce reservations about e-mobility.
About two-thirds see it as a good opportunity to get to know an electric car.
For 55 percent, rent is even important or very important when making a purchase decision.

“But there is more to us: With the combination of a large variety of electric vehicles, easy access to a nationwide charging infrastructure and the climate neutrality of our company, we want to be pioneers for a sustainable future.” But the switch to electric cars also pays off for customers , as Sixt told the Handelsblatt: "Especially in terms of consumption, based on current energy prices, driving is significantly cheaper than with comparable cars with combustion engines."
