What no one knew, however, was that he himself was battling his own addiction to child pornography.
The 69-year-old man, a specialist doctor in a Parisian hospital, was arrested a few days ago at his home in Hauts-de-Seine.
In the hard disk of his computer, the police officers of the brigade for the protection of minors (BPM) found more than 4,700 files, mostly deleted, featuring children.
The suspect admitted the facts.
Brought before a magistrate, he will appear next February in court.

He thinks back to the thousands of child pornography files he had downloaded through a secure application.
As he will explain to the investigators during his custody, he had decided, “out of disgust with himself” to delete all these videos.
But you don't just get rid of an addiction.
So, in August, here he is pushing the door of a computer store rue Mongallet in Paris (XII).
He hands the salesman the hard drive and asks him to recover all the files he had deleted.
The repairman does his job.
He then discovers all the child pornography files.
He obviously contacts the police.
The Paris public prosecutor's office seized the brigade for the protection of minors.
First step: obtain the identity of this client.
He did leave his name to the store clerk.
But he gave a false identity.

But it is enough to rummage in the hard disk to obtain this information.
The man was finally arrested at his home a few weeks later.
The investigators obviously wanted to know if the suspect had also been able to commit sexual assaults.
They found nothing.
Moreover, questioned by the police, the doctor's wife and children had never noticed any inappropriate gesture on his part.
