Already at the beginning, the conversation with Dodo Erez slides into fatherhood.

His one and a half year old son is whining in his arms.

Apparently, one could expect that the father would challenge the toddler with the genre that is so identified with him, in a street poll or alternatively in a house poll, on the issue of whether he would like to stay with him or move in with his mother, while his comedian and stand-up artist father is being interviewed.

But Erez, with comic seriousness, tells Olel "deal with it. This is life" and hands him over to his mother, his partner Anat Auri.

"I am a full-time father, changing diapers on a regular basis and doing it with great joy. Well, in the evenings I have somewhere to escape, to the radio broadcasts and stand-up shows, and still my main and real occupation is fatherhood," he declares.

His uncle Erez is the father of two sons: Dani 3.5 and Yali 1.5 years.

His paternity is what is called "late paternity", and even before I asked he hurries to clarify: "When you are young, you are in the process of searching for yourself, it is possible that at this stage children may be perceived as an obstacle to the search process. But when you are 47, the age I was when my eldest son was born, it is good For all parties, except perhaps the fact that it is less easy to pick up the children. So, yes, you need to keep fit, exercise."

Apropos of age.

Three weeks ago Dodo Erez celebrated his anniversary.

"It's true, I'm fifty, but I didn't celebrate anything on this day. It went smooth and clean, I bought cleaning supplies. It's strange to think of yourself as a 50-year-old person. Although there is no crisis like in the familiar myth of 40. I'm sorry to disappoint, but I don't feel An adult. As long as I am engaged in a fun profession where I am not destined to live as an adult."

Keeping the spirit of youth, and with a closeness to culture and science with the addition of his favorite humor, on Sukkot holiday Dodo Erez participates in the show "Following the Disappearing Song", a musical journey into the depths of the mind with the Israeli Camerata Jerusalem Orchestra.

Together with him on stage are his friends from the show "The Diggers" Merav Feldman and Yuval Segal ("It will be a reunion. Since 'The Diggers' we haven't performed together") which will be performed as part of the Children's Sounds Festival at the Holon Theater (11-13/10).

The story of the play begins when Mirav gets a song stuck in his head.

And not for nothing, because the song Let's Dance by David Bowie.

After unsuccessful attempts to extract the song, the friends embark on a multi-sensory journey into Merav's mind.

"We go on a magical journey through Merav's mind, and in the process discover the importance of music in our lives, its connection to emotion, memory to language, movement and rhythm and how it affects us mentally," Erez explains.

The show combines a symphony orchestra, theatrical skits, and works by composers from Handel and Bach to David Bowie and Britney Spears, conducted and musically directed by Abner Biron.

The show, intended for children aged 5-12, was written and directed by Yonatan Blumenfeld and will be performed on Wednesday 12.10 at 17:00 at the Holon Theater.

"This is the first time I perform on stage with an orchestra. I grew up on classical music, playing the accordion and piano from a young age. But this time it's a different experience to listen to music and not from YouTube, but on stage in a live show with an orchestra," he says

in the composition of Erez, the comedian, actor and stunt performer in the fields of knowledge and science ("I studied physics in my youth") in his shows, known to viewers, among others, from "The Diggers", a television program that was broadcast 206 times over six years and won the award for the best program in the children and youth magazine categories for 2018, as well as from the radio program "Three that know" and more.

"It's a life changing and rewarding experience.

Humor, is this what teachers and scientists lack?

"I know the world of science intimately and there is a lot of humor there. Maybe in the past scientists took themselves too seriously. But isn't there already an 'Ig Nobel' prize (humorous scientific prize. R.K.) in learning".

His serious comedic character with a poker face is also known to viewers thanks to the impromptu street wishes he presented in "Wonderful Country" and other programs.

Today, the street polls have been copied to various companies and organizations, in a kind of haggling for livelihood needs.

"I grew up on English humor. The poker face certainly contributes to the situation. I really like when anything can happen in polls."

Is humor hard to come by?

"Of course it depends on the platform. Humor is a point of view on things, of course it should be different and funny. However, this is work. To write a sketch or a sitcom like in 'Diggers', you have to sit down and write, just like in stand-up you have to sit down and write punch lines. Yesterday I appeared at the stand-up club to test new material I had written, in order to improve and update my stand-up show."

In the program he previously presented, "Sholosha Shiodiaim", which was broadcast in Han Tarbut, the editor of the program was Anat Auri, who is about twenty years younger than him, his partner and the mother of his two sons.

Was there a bitter relationship?

"If anything, then the conversion relations were in the opposite direction. But we managed it and we live together in Tel Aviv as parents of two children."

The return of "Wonderful Country" and against the background of the upcoming elections, also returned him to the program.

This is the third season with the character of Gideon Sa'ar that he plays.

"This is definitely a leap forward, this is the leading and best humor program in Israel. I am very happy to play the character. I depend on Saar, his success is my success," he says.

How did the real Gideon Saar react?

"Once I spoke on the phone with Sa'ar about the character, but the main feedback I received was from his daughter, the actress Alona Sa'ar, who told me that I make him very similar and funny."

Are you hoping for a Friday election?

"As we know, the prophecy was given to fools. But this will surely guarantee me, with the character of Sa'ar, more filming days in the 'Wonderful Land'."

Dodo Erez, as mentioned, also runs a stand-up show ("In La Shem") on stages that mainly touches on the stations of his personal life when he also accompanies himself on the accordion.

Among other things, he dwells on his childhood in Netanya, the city where he was born as David Yaakov.

About his parents, his divorce (twice), the birth of his two sons and more.

He studied law and worked as a lawyer in the Tel Aviv Prosecutor's Office and in the police: "I was actually a police officer in uniform for three days for an apprenticeship period, you could say I was more in uniform in the show 'Komi Komi' than in the police." In "Wonderful Land" his friends from Netanya who were with him in the acting circle, the duo Eli and Mariano (Eli Finish and Mariano Idelman).

He came to the world of acting thanks to his screenwriter friend Assaf Shalmon: "I was a lawyer at the Tel Aviv Prosecutor's Office when Assaf was pushing me to fax my own materials to 'Komi Komi' on Fox Kids, and promised not to guarantee anything.

If it weren't for Assaf, one of the talented writers, I wouldn't be in the field."

And you went for it?

"It happened at the same time as my first divorce, I was divorced twice.

I told myself, if my life is falling apart, then everything will fall apart and be rebuilt.

And I built."
