Eurovision 2023: Noa Kirel is officially announced as Israel's representative (Walla system!)
The city of Liverpool in Great Britain was chosen as the host city for the 67th Eurovision Song Contest, after a close race with the city of Glasgow, the European Broadcasting Union announced this evening (Friday).
The Eurovision 2023 Grand Final will take place at the Liverpool Arena by the River Mersey on Saturday 13 May, preceded by the semi-finals on Tuesday 9 May and Thursday 11 May.
The BBC, together with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), will organize the competition in consultation with UA:PBC, the public broadcaster of Ukraine, last year's competition winners.
Liverpool was chosen following a strong bidding process of various cities in England, in which the facilities on site were examined;
the ability to accommodate thousands of delegations of visitors, staff, fans and journalists;
infrastructure, and the cultural capacity of the host city to reflect Ukraine's victory in 2022.
"Liverpool is the ideal place to host the 67th Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of Ukraine," said Martin Ostradel, the senior manager of the Eurovision Song Contest.
"The city is synonymous with music, and Liverpool Arena exceeds all the requirements needed to stage a global event of this magnitude. We were very impressed by the passion the city showed in embracing the competition and its ideas on how to put last year's winners, Ukraine, at the forefront as thousands of fans visit next May."
Ukraine hosted the Eurovision Song Contest twice in the past - in 2005 and 2017.
She won again this year with the help of the Kalosh Orchestra band that represented her, and mainly due to an outpouring of support for a country that has to deal with the Russian invasion.

Israel will be represented by Noa Kirel, after a professional committee of the Broadcasting Corporation chose her to represent Israel in the competition from a closed list of the 78 artists played in Israel, or those who stood out in the charts of the last three years.
About a month later, the singer confirmed that she accepted the invitation.
"I am very excited. I feel that we are embarking on a mission that came to me as a complete surprise," she said at a press conference.
"Recently, I also learned about the risks and that not everything is related only to art and performance. I am proud to embark on this mission, which for me is a national mission."
