Fuel prices: Petrol cans remain taboo in France

In the departments on the border with Germany, no fuel may be sold in canisters.
The petrol can ban was issued in Alsace and the Moselle department last week and initially applied until October 19.
The decree has now been extended by the authorities in the affected parts of the country by another week up to and including October 26th.
In some parts of France, jerrycans are currently not allowed to be refuelled.

France is currently a popular destination for German motorists from the border areas, as the fuel prices there are comparatively cheap.
Because unlike in Germany, where the tank discount is history again, 30 cents per liter of petrol and diesel will continue to be deducted in our neighboring country in October.
In the following months, the tank discount should then melt away in France as well.

There is also another problem: refineries have been on strike in France for some time.
There are bottlenecks at almost a third of the gas stations across the country.
A number of gas stations were temporarily closed completely.
Similar to what happened in Great Britain a few months ago, drivers in France often have to search for hours for an open petrol station.

But not only in France it is significantly cheaper for German drivers to refuel, fuel prices are also lower in other neighboring countries.
However, if you want to stock up on petrol or diesel at home, you have to observe a few guidelines.

But there are strict rules not only for storage in your own garage, but also for transporting diesel and petrol in the car.
The fuels must be filled in special canisters and the quantity is also limited.
Violations can result in hefty fines.
