Finally: On Sunday, the establishment of the museum will be approved, which will present documents in the genius scientist's handwriting • Behind the project: art collector Jose Moghrabi, owner of the largest Andy Warhol collection in the world

After ten years of discussions, on Sunday the Israeli government will present the bill for the establishment of the first and largest museum in the world dedicated to the life and legacy of Albert Einstein, and it will be located on Givat Ram in Jerusalem.

The museum will display the original manuscripts of the genius scientist's theory of relativity, documents that have not yet been exhibited in the world in general and in Israel in particular, and objects that were until now only in his home in New York.

According to estimates, tens of thousands of visitors from all over the world are expected to visit it every year.

"Israel Hayom" learned that the living spirit and main contributor behind the project, which has never been seen before in Israel, is the businessman and art collector George (Jose) Moghrabi, who, among other things, owns the largest collection dealing with the work of Andy Warhol, and is considered one of the greatest philanthropists in the field the art.

The museum will be established in a unique building on the Givat Ram campus of the Hebrew University, which will house the complete Einstein archive that will be digitally accessible to the general public, and will be an innovative complex for scientific and technological education.

The investment in building the museum will amount to NIS 64 million - of which NIS 22.5 million is in the government budget, and the rest from the university.

A legacy of excellence

The one who actually led the government's decision was Minister Ze'ev Elkin, through the director general of the Ministry of Jerusalem and Heritage, Nathaniel Isaac, who headed the steering committee of the professional teams together with Naama Shultz, director general of the Prime Minister's Office.

The decision was made possible after the success of the Jerusalem and Heritage Ministry to gather budgets from the ministries of finance, the prime minister, education, culture and sports.

Prof. Asher Cohen, President of the Hebrew University: "The legacy of research and academic excellence of Albert Einstein, one of the prominent supporters of the State of Israel and the founding fathers of the university, is found in each of the foundation stones on which the Hebrew University is founded.

"Einstein's scientific achievements changed the world of physics, and to this day affect the lives of each and every one of us - from the field of lasers, through nuclear energy to flights into space. The origin of all these and more is in the theory of relativity, which he developed at the beginning of the last century."
