It was his son, Jérôme, who broke the news.
Jean-Baptiste Watel, 92, died just over a month after being beaten up by a drug addict at Parc de la Villette, in Paris, in the 19th arrondissement.
He had been the victim of an attack on September 9, while returning from his daily walk.
A drug-addicted woman, addicted to crack, had then beaten and stripped him in the hall of the building of his son, where the nonagenarian resided one week out of two.
Guest of the program "Face à Baba" on C8 Thursday evening, Jérôme Watel attacked the Minister of the Interior, of whom he raised a "responsibility" in this affair: "Mr. Darmanin is a main actor in this murder.

The man had already testified in the columns of the Parisian on October 2 to denounce the aggression of which his father had been the victim.
He had been transported to the Saint-Louis hospital (Xe) with his vital prognosis engaged.
The man then suffered from two fractures of the pelvis, with internal bleeding.
Lesions which earned him an ITT of 45 days.
“He stayed two days in the emergency room, with his vital prognosis involved.
The doctors were unable to stop the internal bleeding,” said Jérôme at the time.
The main suspect, aged 24, was arrested in mid-September and quickly admitted having followed Jean-Baptiste Watel in order to rob him, to pay for a dose of crack.
She was charged and remanded in custody.
Since then, the camp for drug addicts located near Square Forceval at Porte de la Villette has been dismantled, on the orders of the Paris police headquarters, on October 5.
