Don't get confused with Hamas, the car kills many more people a year (Photo: Reuven Castro)

This time too, and if you haven't figured it out yet, these elections are a pile of nonsense.

Prefer to waste precious minutes from the day off you got to do this?

Totally fine, but if anything, let's do it for a good cause.

Because it's all nonsense, Netanyahu won't dismantle the courts, Lapid won't sell us to the Muslim Brotherhood, Gantz won't hand us over to the Iranians, Ben Gabir won't send people from here on trains, Zehava Galon won't restrain a single soldier and Michali won't force you all to write anything like that. God.

But, about 350 people are going to die on the road this year as well, 100 times more are going to be injured.

Maybe your father or mother, brother, daughter, grandfather, nephew, neighbor, friend from work, kiss brother - someone will be there.

A few thousand more people will suffer from pollutant emissions.

Several hundreds of thousands of hours and billions of shekels will be burned in traffic jams, tens of thousands of teenagers will crash into a problematic set of tests, all car owners will pay more than almost every citizen in the world for the parts for their car and I'm just getting warmed up.

So if there's anything worth putting a note on the ballot for, it's this moment when when you look at yourself in the rearview mirror, ask yourself which party sees saving lives, improving the quality of life and saving us money as a goal and who sees you as useful idiots.

As in the previous election campaigns where we sent our transportation questionnaire, we also gathered from the parties' platforms their attitude to transportation and road safety.

Read and remember behind the curtain.

The order of appearance of the parties is random, the source of the information is in the platforms of the parties as announced to the public.

Shas: No platform, no positions (Photo: Reuven Castro)

Shas

The party does not publish a platform for public review or its positions on transportation.

The party also offers a program of economic benefits for those who disable their vehicle on a working day of the week

The party's platform contains several references to transportation.

The central one is contained under section 8 of "Sustainability - Housing, Transportation, Planning and Environment".

Under four subsections, the party details its position in the areas of road congestion, public transportation, transportation alternatives and road safety.

Regarding the congestion on the roads, there is a reference to the problem of overcrowding, the wasting of hours standing in traffic jams and the economic damages, but without presenting a solution or methods of action and coping to reduce or curb the aggravation.

The field of public transportation is very detailed, noting the social, economic, health benefits and more of public transportation.

Among the topics indicated by the party that will advance in the field: defining a government goal for the transition of passengers from private to public transportation.

Prioritizing public transportation.

Allocation of resources to encourage the use of public transportation with increased frequency and availability, 80% subsidy for various population groups, paving of at least 50 km of public transportation routes and enforcement, operation of public transportation 7 days a week 24 hours a day, establishment of metropolitan authorities for transportation. In the field of alternatives Transportation: implementation of a program of high-speed lines to employment centers, the obligation to submit a sustainable transportation report in every new construction plan (to prevent the disasters of building residential neighborhoods restricted to private cars - K.C.),

Reducing the use of private vehicles (Photo: Kobi Liani)

Reducing the use of the private car by reducing the import of vehicles, taking old vehicles off the road, increasing the fines, surcharges and taxes on car ownership, increased tax on a second car per household, reducing investment in new roads and parking spaces.

Reducing concessions for leasing, limiting kilometers traveled as a condition for recognition of expenses. Congestion taxes at the entrance to Tel Aviv. The party also offers a program of financial benefits for those who disable their vehicle on a working day of the week (note - working day - KK). Benefits for workplaces that encourage use in public relations

The party also opposes the construction of civilian airports in agricultural areas such as the Jezreel Valley, Megiddo and Ramat Menashe and supports the Nebatim alternative.

In the field of road safety, Meretz declares the implementation of the multi-year plan to combat road accidents based on the Sheinin report, with changes to prevent an increase in the volume of traffic. The establishment of the Road Safety Authority as an independent body, education and advocacy for the culture of road safety and driving in all sectors.

In addition, the platform also touches on the issue of public transportation on Shabbat under section 6.5: "Operation of public transportation on Shabbat, taking into account the nature of the local population and its needs, including intercity transportation of trains and buses."

Bottom line:

yes to public transportation 24/7, a smart and forward-looking residential planning concept, the elimination of the private car and the heavy burden of its maintenance on those who have no transportation alternative outside the center or who own an old vehicle.

There is no platform, nothing to offer (Photo: Reuven Castro)

Likud

The party does not publish an official platform for public review.

The last mention of the platform is from 2018 and there the only reference to transportation is in the field of infrastructure.

There it is stated about connecting the cities of Israel with transportation lines such as the railway and building an advanced road system.

Bottom line:

Go vote, how will you get to the polls?

We are not interested

What does the former minister suggest to drivers? (Photo: Reuven Castro)

Religious Zionism

In the religious Zionist party, the reference to transportation is in the chapter "Nature and Environment" where the reference is made to improving the accessibility of the public through efficient public transportation.

Among the points: increasing the budget investment in public transportation at the expense of the private vehicle, directing two-thirds of the Ministry of Transportation's budget to promote public transportation.

Expanding public transportation routes, implementing tools and economic incentives for shared travel and preventing rewards or reducing benefits for workplaces that do not encourage it.

An efficient public transportation system from the periphery to the center, advanced central management of public transportation.

Bottom line:

the direction is excellent, but we would have expected much more from the former Minister of Transport

Establishing a fast track for national infrastructure projects (Photo: Reuven Castro)

Israel is our Home

The party declares about railway projects, including a train connection to Yosh with the establishment of a station in Ariel

The handling of transportation issues in the party is under investment in transportation and national infrastructure.

With a statement that a reduction in the use of the private car is necessary from an economic and environmental point of view.

The solution is to develop mass transportation systems and encourage the public to switch to public transportation.

Among other things, the party declares the promotion of rail projects, including the connection of the Israel Railway to Judea and Samaria with the establishment of a station in Ariel (there is no trace of such a plan in any recognized national plan - K.C.), the connection of Kiryat Hamodi'in in the Negev by heavy rail, the connection of the railway to Arad.

Strengthening the road infrastructure in the north and south through the extension of road 6, road 65 and the Arava road (road 90).

Among the highlights that will be given, we found the completion of the Metro Law, legislation of the Infrastructure Law that will regulate a fast "green route" for promoting national infrastructures by streamlining processes, removing barriers and easing bureaucracy.

Also, under the field of welfare, the party declares the intention to make travel on public transport free for all pensioners (in contrast to the situation today where it is free only from the age of 75 - K.K.).

On the subject of religion and state, the party declares its support for transferring the authority to operate public transportation on Shabbat to the local authorities.

A mention of giving priority to public transport, shared trips and the use of alternative means of transport is also found in the environmental protection chapter.

Bottom line:

a balanced and satisfactory platform in the field of transportation, but nothing new that we haven't heard about.

The most comprehensive and serious hiding episode (photo: Reuven Castro)

There is a future

As in previous rounds, Yesh Atid is the only party in which there is a separate and complete section for transportation in the party platform.

It is also the only party in which the issue is treated in a focused and segmented manner into all its sub-components, starting with immediate, short-term, mid-term and long-term treatment.

The full breakdown of the sections can be found in the party's platform and due to its length and scope we will not include it here.

Among the main issues that the party addresses and offers solutions and vision for are two-wheeled vehicles, infrastructure development, smart transportation, easing congestion on the roads, establishing a transportation cabinet, promoting accessibility for people with disabilities, public transportation, combating traffic accidents, and more.

Among other things, the integration of smart and autonomous transportation by 2030 (we are sorry, this is a very unlikely wishful thinking - K.C.), effective solutions to reduce road congestion such as using the edges of central roads such as Highway 5 as a temporary route and alternating lanes to expand the public transportation routes in the direction of the busy journey.

Expansion and encouragement of the use of small and light means of transportation through the construction momentum of bicycle and pedestrian paths.

The proposed transportation cabinet will be composed of representatives of the ministries of transportation, finance, the police, the tax authority, the capital market, the local government, and more.

Effective solutions to reduce road congestion such as using the edges of central roads such as Route 5 as a temporary lane and alternating lanes

Public transportation on Shabbat will be operated in secular residential areas, according to needs and in accordance with the frequency to the circumstances.

The authority in the matter will be in the hands of the local authority that knows the specific needs.

The chapter on the fight against road accidents is also detailed in an orderly and structured work plan, starting with enforcement, education, infrastructure, budgets, expanding the powers of the Harlbad, heavy vehicles, to handling safety and adapting the infrastructure for two-wheeled riders. The party's platform also refers to the promotion of accessibility for people with disabilities in public transportation, development Public transportation infrastructure and investment in the periphery. In

the last session and in the ones before it, MK Boaz Toporovski was one of the leaders of the struggle in the Knesset and the most active member of the Knesset in the field of road safety, including the establishment of the road safety subcommittee.

Bottom line:

if the other parties showed a percentage of this seriousness - they would be condemned.

If 10% of this vision is implemented - we will be condemned.

In the previous round, the platform of the Labor Party presented two references to transportation, this time the detail already covers an entire chapter

In the previous round, the platform of the Labor Party presented two references to transportation.

In the field of religion and the state and under environment and climate.

This time in the elections to the 25th Knesset, the detail already encompasses an entire chapter, it turns out that a year in the Ministry of Transportation does bring things to a completely different perspective.

It is second to the Yesh Atid party in terms of devoting attention to and handling the fundamental issues, although by a margin too large to really receive a commendable mark.

In the transportation chapter of the party's platform, she refers to the core issues in the field.

But before them touches the basic concept of the role of advanced transportation infrastructures for economic development, reducing disparities and reducing air pollution, as well as going against the "wrong and destructive" government policy in recent decades of encouraging the use of private vehicles.

During her term of office, the minister brought about a fundamental change in the concept of transportation with a statement about "inverting the pyramid" and placing pedestrians and public transportation users at the top and the private vehicle at the bottom.

Speeding up public transportation routes now (Photo: Lior Shamaa - Complete Project Management Company)

In terms of the sections, the platform concerns public transportation that will be operated every day of the week while maintaining an "urban environment that supports rest" (we would be happy to phrase it in Hebrew - K.K.).

"Completing the public transportation revolution" Continue shifting budgets to public transportation including speeding up the metro project in Gush Dan and light rail in the other urban blocks.

In the area of road safety, the party wants to implement the Avi Naor plan to fight road accidents.

Naor, founder of the Or Yerok association, has been heading the National Road Safety Authority for the past few months.

As part of the five-year plan - a 50% reduction in the number of people killed in road accidents.

Development of cycling infrastructure in local authorities and marking of public transport routes.

Promotion of electric cars at the expense of gasoline cars.

The continuation of the regulation of bicycles and electric scooters and the increase of enforcement against law violations by their users.

It is also among the only parties that refer to the Negev alternative in the issue of the supplementary airport for Israel.

Bottom line:

The party led by the Minister of Transportation mainly presents a list of processes already at work, less a far-sighted vision

They come empty handed (Photo: Reuven Castro)

Torah Judaism

There is no official website or source for the party platform.

The only reference is from a Knesset document from 2002 in which it is stated:

Public transportation - We will take care of improving public transportation, optimizing transportation services for neighborhoods and cities populated by the ultra-Orthodox community, blessed with families with many children, and most in need of efficient and increased public transportation services.

Bottom line:

Transportation solution: Messiah's donkey

The state camp

Under "principles" the party publishes the closest thing to an organized platform.

There in section 5 with the title "Economy and strong infrastructures" a two-line reference to public transportation "We will strengthen the public transportation system and advance a national plan to deal with the heavy traffic loads."

In the field of road safety, "we will advance a comprehensive plan to combat the scourge of road accidents."

There is no reference to public transportation on Shabbat except for the general and vague statement of "We will support the expansion of the powers of the local government to increase its ability to shape the Shabbat within its scope, in accordance with the communities that live there."

Bottom line:

Who is in favor of everyone being rich and healthy?
