A prolonged shutdown with no connection to the outside world and a breach of promise by managers led to violent clashes that were published on social media at the company's largest factory in China

The lockdown did its job.

Workers at Foxconn, the world's largest iPhone manufacturing plant, were violently beaten and some arrested, during a strict lockout and protests over their wages.

In films released by Chinese media, workers at the Zhengzhou factory were seen physically confronting police officers.

The employees have been staying in the offices for many weeks without contact with the outside world due to a strict lockdown and fear of a corona outbreak.

Some fell ill and claimed that they were not receiving medical assistance.

Of course, this issue has implications for phone manufacturing.

There is already a severe shortage of the iPhone 14, and an incident like this only increases the delay.

The problems at the site started already a month ago, and Apple issued a rare warning about the expected shortage.

The dispute erupted, according to employee testimony, over the fact that Foxconn refused to pay bonuses promised to new employees while they were quarantined.

"They asked for an explanation from the bosses and not only did they not respond, the police were called for them."

The workers started rioting, throwing objects and taking over offices in the company.

During Wednesday, live reports from the scene of the event were even broadcast on social networks, until the Chinese censorship interrupted the broadcasts.
