A 25-year-old Guinean was stabbed to death in Bordeaux on Tuesday and his 35-year-old partner was arrested, said the prosecution on Wednesday, which opened an investigation for intentional homicide of a spouse.
The police, informed by a witness, discovered the body in the couple's apartment.
The victim, who had a "penetrating" wound in the chest, could not be resuscitated by the emergency services, according to the same source, confirming information from the Sud Ouest newspaper.
The autopsy should confirm that a stab wound caused the fatal injury.
Suspect hospitalized
The concubine who was present was hospitalized in psychiatry, because her condition was deemed incompatible with police custody.
Known for bipolar disorder, she was the subject of medical monitoring, said the prosecution.
According to the regional daily, the couple had a six-month-old baby.
