Émile Daraï, a renowned gynecologist at the Tenon hospital in Paris, targeted by the complaints of several patients, was indicted on Wednesday for "willful violence by a person responsible for a public service mission against 32 complainants", indicated this Thursday a judicial source, confirming information from Franceinfo.

This endometriosis specialist was placed under judicial supervision with a ban on contact with the victims and a ban on holding private gynecological consultations, according to this source.

The case began in September 2021, when medical students denounced the “violent practices” of this endometriosis specialist to the Stop Obstetrical and Gynecological Violence (VOG) collective.

They notably described “brutal vaginal or rectal examinations, particularly painful examinations, sometimes carried out without their consent”, explained Sonia Bisch, the founder and spokesperson of the Stop VOG collective.

The Paris prosecutor's office had opened an investigation for "rape of a minor, gang rape and sexual assault" in September 2021. The AP-HP had definitively suspended him from his duties as head of department and head of education three months later. but the gynecologist always consults at the Tenon hospital.
