People are now convinced that time travel is possible after spotting a photo taken in 1943 showing a mysterious man holding a mobile phone that was only invented 30 years later. Is this what appears there?

This photo, allegedly taken during World War II and not edited, has convinced many that there are people who know how to travel through time.

Those who are not convinced try to find a logical explanation for it.

The mystery will take you to 1943 in Reykjavik, Iceland, where a suspicious figure is seen standing around several local residents and American soldiers passing by on the sidewalk.

Two things are strange about the mysterious man: the hat, which looks different from those around him, and what looks like a mobile phone that he is holding in his hand close to his ear.

In the photo taken in black and white, the male suspect is seen using a device that is too advanced for this decade.

In fact the first mobile phone, the Motorola DynaTAC 8000X, went on sale in 1973, exactly 30 years after the alleged photo was taken.

The photo was first posted on the Icelandic Facebook group Gamlar fotografir ("Old Photographs") by user Christian Hoffmann in 2016. He wrote: "One thing that draws attention to this beautiful photo is that in the center of it we see a man leaning back and talking on a mobile phone.

I do not know what to say.

He's standing alone, wearing a different hat from the others and a scarf and acting like he's a spy."

According to the SUN, Christian claims his family has had this photo for decades but it took him a while to notice the strange situation. The photo was taken at the height of World War II in the captured Icelandic capital in the hands of the allied forces.

The photo was also posted on a YouTube conspiracy theory video titled "10 True Cases of Time Travel That Can't Be Explained".

On social networks, they tried to find a logical explanation for the strange appearance.

Surprisingly, a theory that the man was acting as a spy for the Axis powers was not offered by any party involved.

Instead, those with more reasoned explanations in the Facebook group insisted he was just checking to see if his watch was working.

Others said he was simply using a tobacco pipe and scratching his ear while the picture was taken.

The theory concerning the watch is further strengthened by the fact that the man is standing near what appears to be a watch shop.

Another commenter joked that the photo was proof that Icelanders "already invented the mobile phone before anyone else."

What do you think is the solution to the mystery?
