Moovit, the world's most popular and collaborative public transportation navigation application, announces a Live Location feature (in Hebrew, "line location"), which allows users to reduce uncertainty and worry while traveling on public transportation.

From now on, users will be able to follow the movement of their transportation lines on a map in real time, adding another layer of reliable information about the progress of the lines towards the station where they are waiting.

The feature is available in Israel starting today in the iPhone version and in the coming weeks a version for Android devices will also be released.

Mobit uses several layers of information to help users reach their destination.

After the user selects a route, he can click the "Start Navigation" button to enter the real-time turn-by-turn directions mode, where he will be provided with step-by-step navigation instructions.

In addition, during live navigation mode, users can choose to turn on the "Destination Notifications" function, to receive push notifications to remind them that they got off at the right stop, even when the app is active in the background.

The new feature will be launched in Mobit services worldwide, and will be available for buses, trains, trams, subways, ferries and even cable cars that have a GPS component installed.

The feature will be available in more than 220 cities in 38 countries, with more options to come.

In Israel, the feature will be available for buses, will include 5,306 different lines and will be spread over 100% of the Mobit map.

Passengers can also see when the data was last updated (when the GPS signal was last received from the vehicle), as well as receive service alerts for this line - on the same screen.

In order to activate the service, click on the "line location" button located at the bottom of the action bar that appears on the line details, station details and route details screens.

This layer of information appears in addition to the real time of the line which Mobit shows as a decreasing number of minutes shown in green.

"Part of the key to planning a travel route without worries is to know when the bus arrives at the station where we are waiting. The new feature of real-time location ensures that the passengers of the transport will have access to another layer of reliable information about the progress on the route", Yovev Midad, Vice President of Growth and Marketing In Mobit.
