Although he set the parking disc correctly, a man in Gemering got a ticket.

The reason: the dial was printed incorrectly.

There are certain things that can be found in every car.

One of them is the parking discs.

Drivers can use it to park free of charge in designated parking spaces – at least if they set the parking disc correctly.

However, fines can also be imposed even if they are set correctly, as a driver from Gemering near Munich found out.

The man had parked his car in the county seat and set the parking disc properly.

When he got back to his car, he still found a ticket for 20 euros on his car.

He had done nothing wrong, but the town of Gemering itself.

In Gemering the parking discs go the other way around.

Parking disc set correctly: Curious misprint causes parking tickets

In 2014, they included 25,000 parking discs in the first Germeringer shopping flyer with the aim of advertising retail in the city.

The rest was distributed at the city festival in June 2022.

However, there was a problem: the turntable was printed incorrectly.

Instead of counterclockwise, the numbers were arranged clockwise.

The error went undetected for years until the driver reported it to the city.

After all, the city administration was accommodating and offered the man to pay the fine.

However, he rejected the offer, as an employee explained to

.

He just wanted to point out that other drivers with this parking disc could experience the same thing.

Parking disc set correctly: City of Gemering calls for disposal

In order to prevent this, the city of Gemeringen is now withdrawing the giveaway from circulation and has published a corresponding notice on its website.

There it says: “Dear Germeringer, did you get a cardboard parking disc from the city of Germering?

Unfortunately, you must dispose of them.

The disc is printed clockwise like a clock, but it should be the other way around.

This makes it invalid according to the StVO (standard DIN 1451 part 2 corresponds to Rd No. 16 of the VwV to § 39 StVO).

We sincerely apologize!

Your city of Germering".

Means: Because of the wrong rotating sheet, the parking disc given away does not meet the criteria set out in the Road Traffic Act.

Incidentally, a petition for colorful parking discs failed.

The employees of the regulatory office in Gemering were instructed to turn a blind eye to the wrong parking discs, the city writes on Facebook.

Many of the users reacted to the misprint there with humor.

Others, however, reacted with incomprehension:

  • "So much bureaucracy is possible #onlyingermany"

  • "Which intern was that?"

  • "That's sustainable!"

  • "Typical case of 'could be nicer, hardly better'!"

  • "You could have declared it as a left-handed parking disc?!"
