The atmosphere is more subdued than in the first instance, as often on appeal.

But there are things that don't change.

The identity of the defendants already: Nicolas Sarkozy, his lawyer and friend Thierry Herzog and the former senior magistrate Gilbert Azibert, all sentenced to three years in prison, two of which are suspended, in March 2021 for corruption and influence peddling, appear before the Paris Court of Appeal since Monday.

The three men, who claim their innocence, are there, in strict costume.
