Actress Kirsty Alley passed away at the age of 71. Her family made the announcement this morning (Tuesday) Israel time.
The star died after a short battle with cancer, and her children said: "We are saddened to announce that our great, determined and loving mother has passed away after a battle with newly diagnosed cancer. She was surrounded by her close family and fought very hard. As iconic as she was on the big screen, she was even more amazing as a mother. And as a grandmother."
Ellie became famous in the eighties when she starred in "Free on the Bar", one of the favorite American series of that decade.
Ellie replaced Shelly Long, who starred in the series but left it in favor of the world of cinema and was one of America's favorite actresses at the time.
The audience at first made a face at her replacement, but soon embraced Ellie and made her a star too.
Later, Ellie starred alongside John Travolta in the "Look Who's Talking" movie series.
Over time, Eli's career declined, and in recent years she appeared mainly in reality shows, including one that documented the weight loss process that the star gained over the years.
She also made headlines when she attacked in a series of tweets those who went against Trump supporters in the industry.
