The return of queues in front of certain screening centers (laboratories or pharmacies) in Nantes gave an overview of the current situation: the Covid-19 epidemic is on the rise again in the department.

The Pays de la Loire Regional Health Agency (ARS) has just put figures on this upsurge.

Here is what it gives: on December 1, the incidence rate is 424 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and the positivity rate is 34.2% in Loire-Atlantique.

At the regional level, the dynamics are similar.

In the space of three weeks - between November 9 and December 1 -

"the incidence rate in the general population has increased by more than 70%"

in Pays de la Loire, notes the ARS in a press release.

In people over the age of 65, this increase is less marked.

It stands at 28%.

“The Covid epidemic is recording a clear rebound, with a significant impact on hospitalizations”

, summarizes the ARS.

As of November 30, 440 people were hospitalized in the region due to Covid (+11% in one week), including 30 in intensive care.

Call for vigilance

“This resurgence of hospitalizations is part of a particularly tense hospital context (epidemic of bronchiolitis, tensions on human resources, etc.) which requires increased vigilance and caution as the end-of-year celebrations approach”

, holds to alert the ARS.

Especially since the flu

“is progressing”

too: the epidemic stage

“will be crossed soon”

estimates the health authority.

Medical deserts: in Vendée, a mayor hides the word “equality” from his town hall, the prefecture summons him to stop

Consequently, it calls on residents to respect barrier gestures and renews its call for vaccination in order to protect

"the most fragile people"

.

She specifies that the two injections (against Covid and the flu) can be performed on the same day.

"

Furthermore, if the two vaccines are not administered at the same time, there is no time limit to be observed between the two vaccinations"

, mentions the ARS.

As a reminder, since October 3, 2022, vaccination is open in order to protect the most fragile people.

Persons aged 60 and over, residents of nursing homes and USLDs (long-term care units), immunocompromised persons, persons suffering from one or more comorbidities, pregnant women, people living in the environment or in regular contact with immunocompromised or vulnerable people as well as health and medico-social professionals.
