Starting this morning (Thursday), Apple is launching in Israel a new and updated version of its maps application, which underwent a significant upgrade in iOS 16. Now the application also includes navigation with turn-by-turn voice guidance a la Wise or Google Maps, with the help of new features of the home assistant Siri. In a series of destinations in the world.

The company will also offer to enter and save lists of interesting places in each tourist destination, and a nice addition of its own is recommended lists of tourist destinations from recognized bodies in the field, which can be followed and will also be updated from time to time with new recommendations.

Also similar to Wise, the option to report hazards further down the road or speed bumps is added - also, through voice instruction.

In the new version of the maps, similar to competitors from Google, information on traffic jams will now appear in real time, which Apple collects by anonymously measuring the density of iPhones in a given area unit.

Similar to the feature that already exists and is supported on Google Maps, in Tel Aviv, iPhone users will now be able to navigate with the help of augmented reality (Apple stated that more cities will be added later) alongside a display reminiscent of Street View, and also on the visual side, Apple is upgrading the display in maps, turning it into 3D, More colorful and tangible with familiar landmarks such as the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Teddy Stadium in Jerusalem or the Baha'i Gardens in Haifa.

Another feature with which Apple is finally aligning with its competitors after it lacked for years - is the planning of travel routes and information about public transportation such as buses and trains, similar to what is currently offered by Google Maps or independent competitors such as Moovit.

However, Apple does not yet have information about bus times in real time, but only according to the official schedules of the transportation companies.

The company stated that this information will be added to the application in the future.
