According to an evaluation, Germany's most popular motorway service stations are in Thuringia.

Schleswig-Holstein does not fare well.

Motorway rest stops do not always enjoy the best reputation – which probably has primarily to do with pricing.

In fact, before the summer travel season, the Federal Cartel Office warned against filling up at motorway service stations.

And the prices for some snacks are usually significantly higher than at the truck stops, which are often a little further away, as the ADAC found out some time ago.

However, sometimes lack of time may leave you with no choice but to head for a motorway service station.

A ranking now shows which are particularly popular in Germany.

The used car portal Heycar evaluated 690,000 online reviews from 342 German rest stops.

A rest stop was only considered if it had more than 100 Google ratings.

The result: Germany's most popular service area is in Saxony-Anhalt.

The Kaisergrund service area in the southern Harz Mountains received an average of 4.6 stars (based on 348 ratings).

The beer garden, the home-style food and the good value for money were particularly praised.

Because it is well known that only a few are willing to reduce the holiday budget with overpriced meals, especially when going on holiday.

An evaluation now shows which motorway service stations are the most popular in Germany.
