Indicted for possession of child pornography images and videos, Dominique Lott, mayor of Échenon (Côte-d'Or), has just sent a letter

The mayor of Échenon, in Côte-d'Or, will not complete his term.

Dominique Lott is indicted for possession of child pornography images and videos.

He submitted his resignation to the prefecture.

“Dominique Lott has sent his resignation letter to the prefect.

As soon as the latter is accepted, the resignation will be final, ”explains to our colleagues Myriel Porteous, sub-prefect of the arrondissement of Beaune, without giving further details.

This Tuesday afternoon, his resignation was still in progress.

Dominique Lott has admitted some of the facts with which he is charged and must be tried on April 26 by the Dijon criminal court, specifies France Bleu.

On November 16, a vast investigation by the judicial police led to the arrest of 48 people throughout France, including the local elected official, as we revealed in our columns.

They are suspected of having massively downloaded and consulted pornographic photos and videos featuring children.

Investigators have also identified National Education officials or suspects working in associations, Child Welfare Services for example and even… foster families.

During the municipal council that followed, on November 25, the mayor of Echenon was absent.

But Dominique Lott had made it known, through his assistants, that he intended to remain in his seat until the trial.

Outraged, the inhabitants of the town demanded his resignation, through a petition.

If the prefecture accepts his resignation, the inhabitants of Echenon will have to re-elect a mayor and complete the municipal council.

Because at the beginning of December, two municipal councilors preferred to resign, unable to continue to work in “such a climate”, specifies France Bleu.
