In the shadow of the global criticism that the app contains security problems - in Israel they conclude a year • Noa Kirel is the leading maniac • Avi Aborumi and Anna Zak immediately after her

TikTok Israel presented today (Tuesday) its data to summarize the past year - data indicating that it is one of the leading social and consumer platforms in Israel and in the world in general, and this against the background of criticism towards it from countries such as the United States and Great Britain, according to which the application from the Chinese company Bytedance may have inherent security problems.

As you may recall, last week a bill was submitted in the United States according to which it would be prohibited for the employees of the American government to install the application on their phones, due to fear of leaking information to China. Also, a senior British minister claimed that Tiktok harms the sovereignty of the kingdom and may even challenge Western democracy - also because Bytedance's alleged loyalty to the Chinese government.

Blue and white hashtags

Still, at least in the Israeli arena, Tiktok seems to be continuing its meteoric growth trend.

According to the data provided today by the local branch of the platform, the leading official hashtags of 2022 are #learning_with_tiktok, #musictalk (dealing with music), #booktalk (dealing with books), and #cooking with TikTok.

Tiktok's leading Israeli artists are Noa Kirel (who launched the song "Bell" exclusively on Tiktok), Avi Aborumi, Anna Zak, Agam Bohbut, Margi and Nono, while the leading Israeli content creators according to the app's follower data are Arthur Adiland (11.5 million followers), Avitar Ozari (9.8 million followers), Or Ziti (7.6 million followers) and Shahar Livna (4.3 million followers) - absolutely impressive numbers for a platform that was launched in the world only about six years ago.

You fight bullying

On the other hand, the dark side of TikTok cannot be ignored - offensive content, often violent and racist, that is uploaded to the application and may harm the audience most identified with it - teenagers and young adults.

Tiktok is aware of the disturbing phenomenon, and has made it their goal to eradicate it as much as possible.

The company states that no less than 110 million offensive videos are removed from Tiktok every quarter (almost 1 percent of all videos uploaded to the platform!), and clarifies that 96.5 percent of the removed videos are removed from the application before users report them as offensive content.

In the local arena, it was emphasized that Tiktok cooperates with associations such as Iggy, Aran, Yad Vashem and others, to provide a safe platform for a variety of users from all populations. In fact, it is expected that Tiktok will cooperate with more than 40,000 professionals around the world, who will make sure to maintain the platform and protect its users.
