Sexual violence: should we judge despite the criminal prescription?

For the first time in France, a man has been sentenced in a civil case in a case of sexual violence, despite the prescription of the facts


This is an unprecedented court decision that gives hope to victims of sexual violence.

José Bruneau de La Salle, a figure in the equestrian world, was found civilly responsible on November 17 after being sued by a 41-year-old man, Jeremy Garamond, who accused him of sexual assaults dating back to 1990. The civil section of the court of Paris considered that the facts denounced were "established" even though they are prescribed on the criminal level.
